How to use National Pension Estimate Table

Calculates 2026 National Pension contributions and an estimated old-age pension in today's money from income, start year and total contribution years.

The basic pension equals the replacement constant × (A + B) × (1 + 0.05 × (months − 240) ÷ 12), weighting each contribution year's replacement rate (43% from 2026).

  • Enter gross monthly income as the standard monthly income.
  • Add the year you first contributed and the total years you expect to contribute.
  • Choose employee or regional/voluntary subscriber and, if needed, early or deferred claiming.
  • Review monthly contributions, the estimated monthly pension and the comparison by contribution years.

Useful for

  • Checking the monthly contribution after the 2026 rate increase
  • Comparing how longer contributions or deferred claiming change the pension

Limits and checks

  • Earlier contribution years used higher replacement rates, so joining earlier raises the pension for the same income.
  • An old-age pension requires at least ten years of contributions; otherwise a lump-sum refund applies.

Worked example

KRW 3 million income, 30 years planned

Monthly income: 3,000,000
Start year: 2015
Total contribution years: 30
Subscriber type: employee

Years 2015-2025 use their historical replacement rates; later years use 43%.

Monthly contribution: worker 142,500 / employer 142,500
Estimated monthly pension: about 1,007,210 (today's money)

The future A value at claiming and inflation are not applied.

Common issues

This estimate skips income revaluation, credits and back payments. Check your record in the NPS pension estimate service.

Contributions stop rising with higher income

Income above the KRW 6.59 million standard-income ceiling (from July 2026) is not charged.
